There are, basically, two kinds of generators, the standby and the portable silent generators. The first kind, as the name suggests, are mostly used as permanently set up systems that turn on automatically when they detect a power failure. They are connected to the house or building’s main electricity lines so they can provide power to everything. They cannot be moved from their place because they are a permanent backup for the electricity being provided to the whole establishment. These silent generators are larger, in terms of wattage and size, and can run for longer lengths of time. The standby generators are usually powered by propane, natural gas, gasoline and diesel.
The second kind of generators are smaller in size and usually come with wheels attached to allow them to be moved according to their requirement. These portable generators are usually best for outdoor events and other utilities that do not require a long running time. They have a low storage capacity for fuel so they usually run out of gas or diesel after a few hours. Their main use is at places where the availability of electricity is not possible. This generator is most suitable for outdoor beach parties or camping. Additionally, in case of a power failure in your home, you can also use them for smaller appliances like the television or blender. They will save you from the desperation of waiting for the power to be back so you can get done with your cooking before guests arrive.
These two kinds are further classified according to the kind of current they provide and the noise level they produce. All generators are available in Alternating Current or AC and Direct Current or DC. You can choose the one that is suitable for the appliances you want to power with it. The wattage provided by generators also varies, as does their price. A usual home generator will provide something between 10 to 40 KW. To identify how much wattage you require, you will have to calculate how much is needed by the appliances you would like power with the generator.

Another choice in generators appears in their noise levels. There are the usual noisy ones that produce around 100 decibels of noise which makes it impossible to have a normal conversation in their vicinity. On the other hand, you can choose between the super silent and the silent power generators. As is obvious from their names, these are almost noiseless in their working and thus add nothing to noise pollution. For home use, it would be advisable to use silent diesel generators because you wouldn’t want to have the neighbors complaining about your noise.
The markets will provide you with a wide choice of silent generators for sale and you can opt for the one that best fits your needs. You can also go for the used silent generators but make sure that they are in good working condition and have been little used. Otherwise, you will find yourself stuck with not so silent generators that die every now and then.
